Becoming a 501(c)3 

Eligibility


Eligible

  • Grants may be made to both domestic and international projects. Grants and awards will only be made to organizations that already have a 501(c)3 tax status, and submit a copy of their tax determination letter with a supporting statement that it is their most recent such letter.
  • For international projects, non-U.S. applicants must be registered as charitable organizations in their home countries. 
  • All applications must submit copies of their latest annual report, audited financial statements (if not available, submit 990 forms), and list of directors and officers.

Not Eligible

Grants will not be awarded to:

  • improve animal health
  • provide for spay/neuter assistance, to save endangered species
  • rehabilitate wildlife
  • conserve/protect wild animal population
  • support political candidates 
Municipalities and municipal agencies are not eligible.

Parks awards are small (up to $10,000) and will not be made to animal sanctuaries or to organizations with an annual income of more than $1 million or a large asset base, with the exception of institutions of higher learning. 

Reapplication

Reapplication is considered on an annual basis and must be made each year. The Parks Foundation should not be relied upon for long-term funding.
